Trade Only

1:00Huntingdon THU 8 DEC 2011 ALASI Trade only-1.43-144

29Oct11 Wetherby   ( 17 Gd ,RPR134 )

I´ve no plans after today for Alasi. Dominic [Elsworth] said she wouldn´t want the ground any softer than that. She´s obviously effective at two miles on that ground, but she stays two and a half on good going - Paul Webber,

The going that day was Gd today the going is Gs, Did the trainer take heed of what the Jockey told him? No is the answer, No matter how good a horse maybe if the conditions are not right for the horse it will not win, Only a fool would think that a big drop in class will compensate for the conditions not been right, This is her first try over the bigger obstacles so we don’t know how the combination of soft ground and fences is going to pan out.

I know you have looked through her form, I know you are going to tell me that ground should not be a problem for her, She has won on Gs in 2009, I would agree with you but there are factors which you have to take into account, The going stick recorded a figure of 7.89, Today’s figure is 6.3, Also we must take into account that she ran in the first race that day so the ground would not have been disturbed, She won that race by the narrowest of margins, The horse  she beat that day  Megasue ran off a mark of 110, Her current mark is still 110,

KAITUNA Form Figure of p5( No Norbert not Play station 5) Hardly inspires confidence, However when you dig deep you will see she had a bad hair day- I give her every chance of beating the Fav,I give this as a trade only selection because I feel we could get a good green book, If the market takes into account the ground condition factor then I can see my selection drifting out to 1.75,

Chased leaders, went 2nd 8th until after next, mistake 11th, 3rd and well in touch when slipped, rider lost iron and pulled up before 3 out (op 5-1)
