4:40 Kempton (AW) SUN 15 JAN 2012 ORATORIAN Lay
You get one wrong and the Cockroaches come out the wood the wood work and say you’re just a one trick pony, I just gave STEVIE GEE as a possible win bet and desert strike as lay because I had looked at the race this morning, Not because I was chasing the loss on my lay selection, This morning I thought S.G would be a very hard horse to beat, Desert strikes winning form is over 5f, never won over 6f, 77 starts- 9 wins over 5f not 6, S.G last won 30Dec11 manner of his victory-Tracked leaders, travelling best 2f out, ridden to lead 1f out, soon clear and in command, comfortably (tchd 4-1 and 9-2 in a place)------------- Looking at the running comments and then looking at the opposition I felt he had more scope than most and should win- Hence I decided not to give him as a lay selection.I did not want to give D.S. as lay bet because of price.
Someone asked me if I thought ORATORIAN was a good thing, my answer was no, I feel he can be taken on, why? Look at the race he won on the 4th January
5 1 Dressed In Lace 3/1 Winning form on soft ground-FILLY-Bumped start, chased leaders, led over 2f out, kept on until headed final 120yds, one pace (op 11-4 tchd 5-2)
2½ Leenavesta (USA) 9/4F- Went on to beaten over 6l by Pearl Rebel,
Prior to that win over 6f, my selections previous 3 runs were over 1m, I just feel the lack of experience over sprint distances will find him out. Backers are foolish to back him at this price, Keep in mind a Filly managed to lead for over 2F only to be caught out because the Jockey kicked on too early
